In the story ‘A Petal of an Orchid’, you guys are
probably wondering why someone as nice as Mercedes shoved Orchid aside. Well,
that’s because she didn’t. Those few days after Orchid got her shot, she said
that she didn’t see Mercedes for the next few days. That’s because Mercedes was
trying to figure out what school she could send Orchid to, a school that helps
kids learn the art of dark magic.
While thinking, a dark army officer showed
up and offered to help Orchid learn dark magic. Mercedes was hesitant at first,
but she knew that once Orchid learnt how to master the art of magic, her power
would be so strong, and she could do so much good. So after the officer swore
to never let Orchid stray from the good side, Mercedes agreed.
However, the officer lied. He had seen
Orchid’s incredible power and wanted it more than ever. He told the Black Mage
about his plan and a war was planned to take Mercedes’s eyes off Orchid. Then,
the officer went to the safe house and tried to convince Orchid that Mercedes
had left her for them to deal with. Orchid wasn’t as dumb as he thought and
when he finally realized which little girl Orchid was, he took her by force.
That time when Orchid ran back to
Elluel and overheard Astilda and Mercedes’s little chat, Mercedes assumed that
the officer had already taken Orchid for her first class of dark magic. When
she told Astilda she hated dark magic, she was merely just saying her opinion.
And when Mercedes said: “She doesn’t deserve to be in my town,” Orchid was too
shocked, sad and angry to hear Mercedes’s next words: “She deserves so much
more.”
And so, Orchid’s grudge was nothing
more than a misunderstanding.
